Frequently asked questions
FAQs
-
Do I need to take out travel insurance ?
We cannot recommend strongly enough the importance of you taking out your own travel insurance. We will not be able to amend or cancel bookings for any reason including Covid-19, weather warnings, illness, and many other reasons (with the exception of government lockdowns). UK travel insurance is very affordable even with Covid-19 cover, so please consider and take out the required level of cover.

Do you accept children?
Merchants Manor Hotel & Spa is first and foremost a hotel for grown ups. What does that mean?
For those staying with us it means no children under the age of 12. Our team are happy to discuss any exceptions, and around certain times of the year like Christmas we recognise you might be travelling with one or two younger members. But in general it will be unusual to bump into anyone younger than 12. Rastella restaurant does not have a lower age limit so all guests are welcome to dine.
-
Is there parking?
We have 60 car parking spaces and we urge all our guests to park considerately to leave space for all. When arriving at the hotel just pull up and w'll be happy to help with luggage and parking. Please also ensure you register your vehicle with us as we operate a number plate recognition system to ensure only valid guest park with us.
-
Do you allow dogs?
Yes guests can stay with their four-legged friends - we have five bedrooms for pets. As the lounges and Rastella are all intimate spaces we ask that dogs remain in your bedroom or make use of the garden. You must contact the hotel directly to discuss your needs as only certain rooms allow dogs. We will not accept pets booked via any on line travel agents, please book direct only.
-
Where are you located?
Perched on a hill with views out to the bay, we think Merchants Manor is the best-placed hotel in Falmouth. We're the only hotel to straddle the town, giving you an easy 5-10 minute walk to the beaches or straight into the heart of the high street. You can easily pick up the coastal path near Swanpool or meander down into the high street and mooch around the mile of shops, cafes, bars and galleries. Or just relax in the garden at the hotel, it's really up to you.
-
How accessible is the hotel?
Many of the hotel's facilities can be accessed along the ground floor, and we do have rooms, including shower rooms on the ground floor. But due to some bad designing many years ago, wheelchair access to bedrooms is very limited, so we wouldn't class them as accessible for wheelchairs.
-
What time is the pool open?
The pool and gym are open daily from 07.00-21.00 every day, with last entry at 20.00.
-
Can children use the pool?
Children over the age of 12 can use the pool when accompanied by an adult (For the avoidance of any doubt this refers to residents only)
-
Do you accept cash
We are unable to accept cash. We have no facilities to accept cash and no easy way of banking the money should you try and pay by cash, so please come prepared to pay in another way. We can accept bank transfer with 5 days notice and accept all major credit cards.
-
What time is the spa open?
The spa is open daily from 10.00-19.00 and we recommend booking with plenty of notice to avoid disappointment.
-
Are children allowed in the spa?
The Linen Rooms spa is strictly limited to over 18s.
-
Can I cancel my spa treatment?
Of course you can but we do ask for 48 hours notice to give us a chance to resell the space. If we're able to find someone to take your space there'll be no charge, but if not then you'll be liable for the charge.
-
Do your rooms have a sea view?
The simple answer we always say is no. We do have approximately 10 rooms with sea views, but instead of charging a premium for these we like to keep it as a nice added bonus. You can request these but we can never promise them.
-
Can I take amenities and mugs from my room?
The extra-large Temple Spa toiletries are part of our initiative to take plastics out of landfills. You can take any of these but there's a charge, as there is for the lovely Cream Cornwall mugs in your room.
-
Can you meet special dietary needs?
Our menu is designed to meet most dietary needs as a matter of course - vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items are already included within the main menus.
If you have any special requests then just ask and if we can help we will. As we make most items from scratch there are a number of allergens present throughout the kitchen, so if you have serious allergic condition please be mindful that we may struggle to remove all traces from any production process.
