Christmas in Cornwall: The Eden Project

For visitors staying with us this festive season here’s a little something extra you can do during your stay to get you into the Christmas spirit. Why not take the family to visit the Eden project?

That special time of the year where the nights draw in and we dig out our winter woolies is fast approaching. Harbourside towns light the bay with flashes of colour, markets and stalls line town centres with crafts and workshops, festive foods fill the air and family friendly events are held across the county – Christmas in Cornwall is truly magical.

There are events being held all over Cornwall this Christmas; ranging from short afternoon markets to full scale six-week festivals of food, drink and entertainment. One of which is a particular favourite with locals and visitors alike is the Winter Festival at Eden Project.

From what started out as a drawing on a napkin, the world renowned biomes of Eden Project have evolved to become much more than a place to see the world’s largest rainforest in captivity. Over the past 10 years, the team at Eden have worked tirelessly to bring new and exciting experiences to the attraction. As well as permanent installations, the Eden Project boast seasonal treats for visitors including exhibits, live music sessions, talks and workshops.

This winter is no different – starting from 28th November the Eden Project will be welcoming the festive season with open arms as it marks the 11th birthday of the Eden Project Ice Rink. This magical time of year sees the site is transformed into a winter wonderland. Colourful illuminations will line the gardens to transform the old quarry into a hive of festivity.

Guests can enjoy an array of activities including lantern workshops, visits to Father Christmas and his real reindeer and of course Eden’s winter ice rink. There will also be storytelling and the chance to try some wonderful food and drink.
